Thomas Campbell (“Tom”) Bray, 80, went to be with the Lord on January 6, 2011. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He was born on January 15, 1930 in Goldsboro, NC, the son of the late Thomas William Bray and Minnie Alice Jones Bray.
A graduate of Faith High School, he married his high school sweetheart, Audrey Mae Richardson on November 8, 1952 and settled in Raleigh, NC in 1956. A graduate of NC State University in electrical and nuclear engineering, Tom worked for several firms in the Raleigh area before retiring from the NC State University nuclear program in 1990.
A devoted husband, father and Christian, Tom was a long-standing member of First Baptist Church on North Salisbury Street in downtown Raleigh, where he served (among other things) as: deacon, Sunday school class teacher, assisted with preschool choir, was a tireless & cheerful volunteer and created countless treasured memories with many cherished friends.
Besides his parents, Tom is preceded in death by his wife Audrey Mae and brother William Judson. Tom is survived by his son, Thomas William (“Tommy”) and daughter Angela Victoria, (“Angela”), two granddaughters, Suzanne and Ashley and a great grandson, Jacob, a sister, Elizabeth and a brother, Scott. He is also survived by many wonderful in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins, whom he loved dearly.
Memorial Service will be conducted at 1:00PM on Monday, January 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church, 99 North N. Salisbury Street, Raleigh, NC, 27603. Family will be receiving friends immediately following service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 250 Hospice Circle, Raleigh, NC, 27607.
