Therese Murray was born on December 6, 1953 in Haguenau, France. Her mother (1921-1972) was German and her father (1913-1990) was French. Therese grew up in Strasbourg, France and has many relatives in both France and Germany including her brother, sister, nieces and nephews. She started her teaching career in 1973 in Strasbourg. Ten years later she moved to Houston, Texas and resumed teaching, first at University of Houston and then at Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart where she spent twenty-six years. Therese loved teaching and was beloved by her students.
Therese married Jack Murray in 1985 and had one son, Jackson Murray, in 1987. Jackson was killed in a car accident on April 17, 2010. In 2014 Therese and Jack moved to Raleigh, N.C. where she was an active volunteer at Church World Service in Durham.
Therese is survived by Jack, Christine Ingelaere, Raymond Ingelaere, Camille and Pauline Munier, Emeric, Cyril and Damien Ingelaere and by her brother-in-law, Robert Murray and his family.
Instead of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Church World Service in Durham or a charity of choice. A special thank you to UNC Rex Cancer Care and to Transitions Life Care in Raleigh. Her ashes have been transferred to Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston, next to her son’s.
