Terri Medlin Bruner, 63, passed away Tuesday December 17, 2013 at home surrounded by family. Born in Lexington, NC on July 27, 1950 to Mary Elizabeth Medlin and Claude Everett Medlin, she graduated from Garner Senior High School in 1968.
After completing her education at Wake Technical College and becoming a licensed practical nurse, Terri began her professional life at Wake Medical Center Hospital working in the Cardiac Care Unit. She continued her career at Dorthea Dix Hospital where she assisted in setting up the Critical Care Unit, as well as working in vocational rehab and staff development. She returned to school in 1984 to become a registered nurse. Throughout her career she served in various roles as a nurse, providing comfort to those in need. Terri was also a full-time band mom, participating in the band booster programs at East Millbrook Middle and Millbrook High School. In retirement, she became an avid knitter, spending her days at Yarn Tree Studio in Raleigh, where she spent her time building friendships, laughing and loving. In her last year, Terri entered two pieces into the North Carolina State Fair crafts competition, winning first and second place ribbons.
Terri is survived by her husband Jim Bruner, her daughters Jennifer Winburn (Jody) and Katie Bruner, her son Jay Bruner (Macy); grandchildren Krystal, Trevor (Maggie), Destiny, Megan, Gracie and Terri; great grandchildren Kylie and James, her knitting friends, and countless other loved ones and acquaintances. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters Nancy Jaeger (Dave) and Patty Abdelwahab (Mustafa), and in-laws Julie Jones (Eddie), Bob Bruner (Leigh), and Chip Bruner, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday December 21, 2013, at 2:00PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home at 1701 E. Millbrook Rd. in Raleigh, NC 27609. Following the service, the family will receive visitors at 1526 Edgeside Ct., Raleigh, NC 27609.
