Sylvia and I taught school together in Germany for a year, jointly purchasing a VW and traveling throughout Europe, having more fun and laughs than one is entitled to in a year!  Our friendship continued over the years, and our last 
meeting was under similar circumstances at Duke in May. She was the most kindhearted and loving free spirit that one could ever hope to have as a friend. Rest in peace, Sylvia

My Dear Friend-  I will miss your face and our phone chats and that old familiar "Well hello Miss Gladys."  Most of all I will miss your laughter and our "loosies."  You touched everyone you met.  I hope you knew how loved you are and will always be.  Farewll my dear freind.  Until we meet again.

Sylvia and I worked together on Park Avenue, Manhattan, NYC. We also shared an apartment in Parkchester, Bronx, NY.  I will never forget the good times, the laughs we had.  Sylvia was an excellent baker, would never give out her famous brownie recipe, not even to me. She may be gone, but she is not forgotten. My condolences to her sister Joyce and brother Paul. Rest in peace Sylvia.

Syliva & I were neighbors for many years in Raleigh. There is and will never be a time that I pass our old address without thinking of her! SO many wonderful, warm memories of that time & place with her! She always had a kind word & smile for all of her neighbors (human & furry!) and was one of the most genuine, loving, special people I've ever known. She touched my life in ways I don't think she realized, and I will be forever better and grateful for our paths having crossed. What a blessing to have known her, and I will miss her greatly.

Sylvia was my neighbor.  She was a beautiful, funny, intelligent, helpful, friendly, caring woman.  She is sorely missed.  Goodbye to a truly lovely soul.

I used to see Sylvia when she would come to Cafe Carolina in Cameron Village. What a sweet lady she was! We discussed many things over coffee..books she was reading, children she had "nannied", and life in general! I will miss her beautiful smile and sweet spirit! A very special and kind spirit.

I was Sylvia's hairstylist and she always brightened my day. She was loved and will be missed!
