Susan Nowell Davis

Susan was born on April 13, 1946 and was a lifelong resident of Raleigh, North Carolina.

Susan was the daughter of Frances Johnson Nowell and William McKay Nowell; granddaughter of Robert L. Johnson and Grace Crone Johnson. Susan was predeceased by her dear son, John David Pearce and her beloved husband, John M. Davis, Jr.

The mother of three wonderful sons, Robert Gregory Pearce, John David Pearce, and Joe Bryant Pearce; and loving grandmother of five grandchildren, Jacob Pearce, Stone Pearce, Bryson Pearce, Avery and Gracie Pearce, all of whom will remain in her heart forever.

Susan was blessed with her childhood friend, Barbara Cottle, who was always there for her as well as beloved sister-in-law, Mrs. Barbara Davis Murphy.

Susan was an honors student at Enloe High School; a member of Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society at North Carolina State University and graduated Summa Cum Laude from North Carolina State University.

She was a career state employee of 33 years. She began her state employment at NC State Board of Health then on to NC Services for the Blind. She continued her career at NC Department of Environmental Education as Project Manager. She retired from Disability Determination in 2002 as an Eligibility Specialist.

Susan enjoyed working in her gardens as well as taking walks in her neighborhood.

She is now safe in the arms of her Lord Jesus Christ.

A memorial service for Susan was held Thursday, May 16, 2024 at11:00 AM in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, Raleigh, NC 27612. Inurnment followed at Oakwood Cemetery, 701 Oakwood Ave, Raleigh, NC 27601.
