Susan Attayek, 82, of Raleigh, passed away on August 22, 2018. She was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 3, 1936. Susan’s father worked for JC Penny, and moved his family to Statesville, NC for a transfer when she was in grammar school. She went on to attend Monticello College in Illinois. While working at the University of North Carolina, she met Eli, who was in dental school. They married in November of 1961, and settled in Raleigh, where they have lived ever since.
Susan loved animals, especially her cats. She spent her time enjoying her grandkids, going to the beach and cheering on the Tar Heels. She also loved reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Susan is survived by her husband, Eli J. Attayek; son, Brian Attayek and his wife, Amy Price Attayek; and grandchildren, Karli and Parker Attayek. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernst and Alice Stoehr.

A visitation will be held Friday, August 24 from 6:00-8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, August 25 at 3:00pm at St. Raphael the Archangel Catholic Church, 5801 Falls of Neuse Rd, Raleigh, with burial to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
