Sato Thi Workman Barber, 73, passed away on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Orange Park Medical Center, in Jacksonville, Florida. Sato, born to Phan Van Xieu and Duong Thi Gioi on April 2, 1943 in Vietnam, was known for her spunky disposition, outgoing personality, and devotion to her family and the Catholic faith.
Sato is survived by her spouse Claude J. Barber, children Ronald Barber, Quintin Barber, Steven Barber, Mary Futch, Elizabeth Workman-Maurer; siblings Nga Phan, Duc Phan, Tam Tran, Thuong Tran, My Giang, Ro Phan, Than Phan, and 17 grandchildren.
Viewing and visitation will be held at Mitchells Funeral Home at 2709 Glenwood Ave in Raleigh from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, December 4, 2016. A full Vietnamese Catholic mass will be held at Our Lady of La Vang (Vietnamese Catholic Church at 11701 Leesville Road) from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday, December 5, 2016. Immediately after the mass, Sato will be transported to the Raleigh Memorial Gardens (at 7501 Glenwood Avenue) for the burial service. Service will be held outside, in the cemetery, rain or shine.
