Sarah Josephine Benton

Sarah was born August 6, 1931 in Harnett County, NC to Joseph T. Hubbard and Sarah Jones Hubbard. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. Sarah was a strong Christian and the definition of a virtuous woman.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Billy Joe Hayes; siblings, George H. Hubbard; Walter R. Hubbard; Gladys Buie; Frank D. Hubbard; and Worth J. Hubbard.

Sarah is survived by her husband, John David Benton, Sr.; sons, Ronnie Hayes of Erwin; Paul Hayes, Jr. and his wife, Diane of Bunnlevel; Barry Wayne Hayes of Raleigh; and David Benton, Jr. of Raleigh; daughters, Kathy Whitman and her husband, Gene of Erwin; Debbie Baratta and her husband, Mark of Raleigh; and Lori Benton Stikeleather and her husband, Gene of Fuquay Varina; sister, Jessie Edge and her husband, Sam of Fayetteville, NC; 11 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Maskil Fellowship Church, 2227 Milburnie Road, Raleigh, NC 27611. Interment will follow the service at Brier Creek Memorial Gardens, 7600 ACC Blvd. The family will receive friends 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
