Sandra was a major part of our Family.  Her passing creates a significant void in our lives and in the lives of her friends. 

Within the Family, Sandra was known as “S.”  As with every other Family member, she had no say in the matter.  Names just appear, get used, sometimes “evolve,” and eventually become  intractable.  S pleasantly accepted her new moniker, perhaps feeling fortunate at the assignment in a Family made up of Kee'un, Dinkrees, Beebs, Burger, Double B, etc, etc, etc.  Eventually, S signed her name this way on all family communication – as we all did with our own assignments – and responded automatically in conversations.
 
Sandra loved her Family, her dogs, and, especially, her Grandson, Everette.  She also loved Holidays and made them special for her Family and all who could participate.  She was particularly generous and bought Christmas presents throughout the year she thought others would like.  She had a knack for presenting family-related photographs as treasured keepsakes. 
She was a good cook which made gatherings at her home especially enjoyable.  Her artistic talents were exceptional,  but she underplayed those talents much too modestly.  You only have to look at the character of her children, Cynthia and David, and the adults they have become to perceive her abilities as a Mother.

We enjoyed many good times together with S and her husband, Bruzzy (also, my brother), and their children. We traveled together and vacationed together often and that togetherness made for enjoyable times and especially fond memories.  Humor was also a key part of those occasions, such as when we visited them during their time in Poughkeepsie, NY,  went to Boston and an acclaimed restaurant where they insisted we all order multiple entrees so we would not miss something good. 

Sandra will be deeply missed, but her memory and the memories she helped create will live on.  She lived a good life, but we are sad it had to end too soon.

I can only imagine how difficult these past 4 years have been on all of you, but I can say that Uncle Ray and I are so proud of how you stepped up to do everything possible for your mom during that time. You've shown grace and courage in the face of sorrow and sadness and I know your mom is looking down at you saying, "well done and thank you".

We made so many memories with your mom and dad over the years that it's hard to pinpoint any one, but the trip to the Outer Banks after CJ's wedding was definitely a memorable one! While your Dad fumed about our being stuck on a sand bar, your mom and I enjoyed a beverage together! After your Dad was gone, your mom would sometimes travel with me to see my mom at her assisted living home, and take her out to places, such as Pigeon Forge TN, to see the country music shows. That may not have been her favorite music, but she was such a good sport and claimed to enjoy it.

Once your mom moved to the beach, I really enjoyed flying in to visit her. Our first stop was to the local wine store, so we'd always have enough to drink!

We will always remember her love of her dogs and Slick!!

I'm so sorry for the family's loss including her son and daughter who loved her immensely. I loved Sandra not only as her nurse and care taker but part of the facility family that adored her. Sandra will be missed, may she rest in Heavenly Peace.

I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Your mom was a wonderful woman, and I feel so lucky to have known her and shared in the celebration of her 80th birthday.
