Again as I go through all the pictures and condolences, I am again, brought to tears at the loss of Skip!!  And  I think about him every day, as well as Aunt Pat. Angie and Tish. love all of you and all the memories of being at your house and growing up there.  I am thinking of all of us who are grieving and will always grieve his loss.  From what I can see he became a great man with many great friends and experiences.  I am so proud of the man he became. I wish I would have had the opportunity to speak to him as an adult. I am so happy that I got to become close throughout my whole life, and experience the Morrison family whom i love and spent many hours with. What great stories and memories we all have, although most of mine were centered around my childhood and teenage years,  I will never forget him and all the hide and seek and the meeting his friends, bicyle riding, birthday parties and camaraderie we shared as kid. I met Sam in Venezuela long time ago .  While seeing his picture is right about the same happy guy I met .

Sam’s warmth and kindness will be missed incredibly. I am truly grateful for his kind support and willingness to always provide knowledge and guidance. As one of the two “Pepper Kings” his humor and love of life will be remembered. All of us are better to have known Sam. My heartfelt condolences to his family and friends, may cherished memories of Sam help bring some comfort.

Words are just not enough.  I’ve known Skip all of his life. And what a wonderfully full life! He gave so much to so many, whether it was friends or family. How fortunate we are to have had such a person in our lives! Oh, the memories we all have to carry with us! Skip was one of the good ones. My heart is with you all!

I am so very sorry to learn of Skip's death. He was a very close friend of my son Tod and was a frequent member of a group of guys that hung out with my family.  I recall that one summer when I was away, I hired Skip, my son and a couple of their other friends to redo my  concrete driveway. I can't detail the fun I am sure they had but when I returned I can report that it was very well done.  I think Skip, who was the crew chief [he was the only one with any practical experience], had the most to do with the quality of work.

I grew up with Skip as the Kirby and Morrison families spent a great deal of time together. I have so many fond memories to reflect upon from being at their home on Brentwood Ln., going to Green Hills Country Club, parties at our home and other fun times. 

I admired the kind, loving and devoted man Skip became and am grateful to have known him. 

My heart aches for you Aunt Pat, Tish, Angie and other family and friends as there really are no words that can ease the pain for the tragic loss of Skip.

We always had fun with the 2 Morrison girls and the 4 Kirby girls.  Then along came "Skippy".  All of a sudden bath time was 6 girls and one little boy.  EVERYONE OUT OF THE BATHTUB!  Time for nightgowns.  7 nightgowns.  We all loved Skip and always will.  He was the BEST.

Engineering proved to be a great fit for Skip's skills, but he also had an entrepreneurial spirit and would have been successful in any business venture he chose to pursue had he not become an engineer 

In our earlier years we had many great conversations and good laughs (mostly at my expense) about business ideas and opportunities - almost every time we spoke this was our main topic of conversation and Skip never grew tired of it - I saw him as an idea person and entrepreneur who could have been creating and building businesses but instead decided to do great works serving as a civil engineer

Was looking forward to seeing Skip again and having some more of those great talks and laughs - regret that did not happen and will miss him

Skip's generous heart enveloped his entire family and scores of friends and co-workers.  His kindness and integrity were felt by everyone who knew him. 
 I love this family and feel the heartbreak of this great loss. I am sending love to all of you who remember and love Skip.

My mom & Aunt Patty grew up together and our families have been connected my whole life. My mother, Jeanne Anne, adores & loves Patty so much. I was very young when I met Skip but I have fond memories of him and felt such a deep sense of belonging when I was in the mix as a kid in Indiana those summers, I just knew we were family. 
Now my heart is heavy for everyone who loved and needed him.

I really struggle to find the words to capture the immensity of his passing. I am just numb. Sam was a gentleman. He was gentle man. His desire to mentor and teach was without equal and to observe from the wings, as he guided the careers of others was a thing of beauty to behold. It was to witness him imparting his knowledge and wisdom to the next generation. THAT is the Sam Morrison legacy. But my fondest memories of Sam, have nothing to do with work. It was about hearing the stories of concerts he had attended. I remember the night we had a “staff outing” to see Tesla in Mobile during WEDA, courtesy of our new intern who got us on the guestlist! I can’t recall a group of people from a more diverse technical or career path background just enjoying each other’s company.  He was one of us. He was our family.  The last text I got from him was when I was on my way home. It was a screen shot of him and a conversation with Stuart Rose, about trying to get me backstage passes to the GnR concert I was on my way to see. Because that what Sam did. He helped others. At every opportunity. Without invite or expectation of return. These are the footsteps in which we should follow. A fine example to live by. This really hurts. You are going to be sorely missed but forever in our hearts. Rest easy my friend. Jonathan

The Morrison family and my family (Kirby's) shared many great times.  Their home was a second home to me and all us kids were likes cousins.  Skip was the only male among 7 females, so he was extra special.  I admired Skip for his accomplishments and love of life and family.

I had the good fortune and great pleasure to meet and get to know Skip several years ago during our annual guys’ ski trip. I was immediately struck by his friendly nature, sharp with and warm personality. I know that he will be missed by everyone that he has touched in his life and I am no exception. My condolences and thoughts go out to his family.

Sam made an indelible mark on me and lots of people at M&N.  He loved mentoring and investing of his time to help make the people and projects better at our firm.  This is a picture of such a time at a beach and resilience conference in Florida late last year.  I learned so much from Sam in our almost 6 years together and I count it a privilege to have known him.  We both truly enjoyed our "iron sharpening iron" sessions to challenge each other on projects. We will all miss him terribly and I especially so.  He was a true gentleman and even a greater friend.   We will all do our best to carry on his legacy.  Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.  Godspeed Sam!

Got to know Skip a few years ago when he added in to our annual ski trip.  Always looked forward to his wit and wisdom.  Condolences to his family.

I had the good fortune to have worked with Sam for many, many years.  We became close personal friends early in our careers and I was able to spend a lot of quality time with Sam and his family while they were living in Bahrain.  This is a particularly heartbreaking video taken on the "Friday" boat.

Please accept sincere condolences from Sam's Mobile colleagues, but know he was much more than that to us, and he was part of our "family".  We are devastated by Sam's passing, as he was an integral part of the Mobile office.  He was a tremendous mentor for our team, bringing his knowledge and wisdom, and helping us learn the engineering and art of dredging from a true expert.  I too am grateful for the chance to meet such a warm and sincere soul, who has left an indelible memory on me.  His legacy and the knowledge he shared with our team will go on in our restoration work, long into the future.  I hope these words can ease somewhat the deep pain his family feels at this trying time, but know he is smiling down on us, urging us to go on in his memory.

It’s with shock and sadness that I hear of the passing of Skip whom I grew up with. We lost touch later on in life but I  always remembered the fun we had together growing up and he was like a cousin to me. So much grief in the Morrison family. Sam was an amazing mentor to the next generation of engineers. He was supportive, responsive, and caring. He will be greatly missed. I won’t be able to thank him enough for all that he taught me. 
The next race I run is in honor of you Sam!

Please know I am praying for the Morrison Family.  I was shocked to hear the news of the passing of my former junior golfing pal.  I do not know how many rounds of golf we played over the years but it had to be in the hundreds of rounds.  Skip was always so gracious and kind to me over the years and his Mom, Pat, was like a second mother to me growing up, carting us around to numerous junior golf tournaments.  Ill never forget his lawnmowing business slogan - "Don't be shy, Don't be nervous, just pick up the phone and call Skippy's lawn service".  He was always a go-getter.  I knew he would be successful in life.  Rest in peace skip - you were a good friend.  I will miss you.  Jim Risk

While our paths have not crossed since High School I am reminded of a sweet personality, a great smile, lighthearted spirit and a fierce game of golf!  I am sending love and prayers to all of Skip's family and friends during this difficult time.

Can't believe this happened. So sad.  I look forward to seeing Skip's wit and laughter, playing Euchre with him, and watching his passion for Purdue basketball every year at our annual ski trip.  It won't be the same without him.  The void now left behind must be tremendous, and I hope the family can take solace in knowing that Skip was loved by many outside of his primary circle, and was always a joy to be around.
