Ruth Swanson Ball

Ruth Swanson Ball, 88, of Raleigh passed away Friday, Dec. 26th at Rex Hospital. She was born in Louisburg, NC on Feb. 5, 1926. She was employed with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring with over 30 years of service. Ruth was a charter and active member of Friendship Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Jessie Gray “Bud” Ball, and her parents, Ernest Ned Swanson and Alina Elizabeth Champion Swanson.

She is survived by her son, Dwight Ball and his wife, Terry of Greensboro; son, Randy Gray Ball and his wife, Vikki of Wake Forest; daughter, Brenda Ball Clegg and her husband, Phil of Durham; her sister, Mary Helen Gupton of Louisburg; 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 12-1pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 5510 Falls of Neuse Rd., Raleigh 27609. The funeral service will begin at 1pm following the visitation at the church. Burial will follow the service at Lancaster Memorial Park, 2210 Hwy 561, Louisburg, NC.
