Bob was born in Edinburgh,IN on January 27, 1937, to Louis and Laura Lamphier. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother, George (Libby) Lamphier and sister, Geraldine (Jake) Simpson.
While working with Indiana Lumberman’s Insurance, Bob moved with his family to Raleigh in 1966. Bob excelled in his insurance career, later establishing a successful Nationwide Life Insurance agency before working with the State of North Carolina.
Bob is survived by his devoted wife, Florence, of 58 years, daughter, Barbara (Jerry) Kingrey, of Raleigh, Bobby (Amy) Lamphier of Cary, grandsons Bryan Kingrey, Daniel Island, SC, Aaron Kingrey, Cornelius, NC, and Dylan Lamphier, Cary, NC, his sister Shelia (David) Browning and many nieces and nephews from IN & CA.
Bob’s favorite times were with friends and family. He loved NC State Football, playing golf, fishing, and relaxing at the beach or Lake Gaston. Mostly, he loved cutting up with “The Friday Five” and volunteering with his many friends from the Wilders Grove-New Hope Exchange Club.
The family wishes to thank their friends for their relentless, loving and heartfelt support. As well, a great debt of gratitude is owed to the wonderful team at Transitions LifeCare (Hospice of Wake County), to the Ruth Sheets Center at Edenton Street United Methodist Church in Raleigh, and to “The Cottage” staff at Spring Arbor for their dedication and kindness.
A celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday, October 17, 2015 from 5:00-7:00 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Rd., Raleigh, NC. Memorial services will be held at Edenton Street United Methodist Church on Sunday October 18, 2015 at 2:00, visitation to follow. A private family inurnment will be held at a later time.
