Robert Kenneth Hayes

He was born on July 4, 1933 in Broome County, New York to the late Ivan Lee and Alberta Mae Howell Hayes.

Bob worked his entire career as an Electrical Engineer for IBM, at Research Triangle Park until his retirement. During retirement, Bob enjoyed the hobbies of garden railroading, photography, and raising orchids.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Thomas Michael Hayes.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Katherine Barno Hayes; his daughter, Deborah Hayes Long of Raleigh; sons, Robert John Hayes (Judy) of Jacksonville, FL and David Hayes (Phyllis) of Roanoke Rapids, NC; 3 grandsons, Douglas J. Hayes (Corinne), Daniel J. Hayes (Kari), and Jonathan S Hayes; great grandchildren, Emalynn, Celeste, Valerie, Khloe, Rylee, Wyatt, Wilson, and Natalie; brother, Donald Ivan Hayes of Windsor, NY; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews.

The body will lie in repose on Friday, June 10, 2022 from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC 27612, with a funeral service immediately following. Visitation will follow the service.
