Robert (Bobby) Louis Hamilton, Sr., of Cary, North Carolina, went to be in the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 10, 2023 at the age of 92. He was born November 23, 1930, in Cary, North Carolina.
Bobby attended Swift Creek Elementary and graduated from Cary High School in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. Bobby was employed by Dillon Supply Company machine shop for 17 years, then went to work for N.C. State University Mechanical Engineering machine shop. In 1975, he started Hamilton Machine Works where he worked with his sons and grandson for 44 years until the age of 89.
Bobby was the loving husband of Billie Jane Dawson Hamilton of Apex, NC for 71 years. They made their home on Walnut Street in Cary for 63+ years with their four children. Bobby faithfully served the Lord through his ministry in music by singing, playing guitar, and leading congregational singing. He also served regularly at the Raleigh Rescue Mission. He was a baseball fan his whole life and enjoyed watching N.C. State Athletic events. He loved spending time with his family, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always drawn to him and he never failed to make the babies smile and laugh.
Bobby is preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy and Annie Alice Harrison Hamilton; his siblings, Elizabeth Gentry, Tom Hamilton, Sam Hamilton, Brenda Hunter, and Larry Hamilton; his daughters, Wanda Hamilton Huffstetler and Martha Hamilton Brady; his grandson, Benjamin Hamilton.
Bobby is survived by his wife Billie Jane Dawson Hamilton; his siblings, Betsy Branch (Herbert), and Wesley Hamilton; his sons, Linwood Hamilton (Rhonda), and Robby Hamilton (Shelley); his grandchildren, Lenny Hamilton (Melissa), Chad Brady (Amber), Mandy Huffstetler Dale (Ian), Stacey Brady Scott (Wes), Ashley Hamilton Shelley (Jordan), and Blake Hamilton (Samantha); his great-grandchildren, Kayla, Dayton, Patrick, Everett, Thomas, Eva, Ezra, Brady, Harleigh, Boston, Harris, Judah, Levi, Asa, and a great-granddaughter due in June.
A Funeral Service was held on January 14, 2023 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home.
