Robert Dennis

Robert (Peter) Dennis, 80, passed away on April 23, 2014. He was only child of his adoptive parents, Conrad and Mamie Dennis of Sumter, South Carolina. He was raised with a large loving family of cousins. Peter left the south as a teenager and went to New York.

He served in the Army National Guard. He was employed as a long distance truck driver for 30 years and spent 15 years in the funeral industry while in New York. He and his wife moved to Raleigh in 2010 to be with his daughter and her family.

He enjoyed his opportunity to bless his church families while singing in the choirs in his home churches. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather & great-grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Cynthia, daughter, Jacqueline Britt and her husband, Darren; son, Robert W. Dennis and his wife Wanda, four grandchildren, Duane, Robbie, Marcus, Justin; two great grandsons, Markus and Macario and a host of friends & family. He will be dearly missed by all.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Raleigh North Christian Center. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, New York. The family would like to express sincere gratitude for all the thoughts, prayers & acts of kindness during this time.
