Bob was born on Sept. 4, 1948, in Corinth, Mississippi, and grew up in Richmond, Virginia, where he graduated from Douglas Freeman High School. He was a graduate of Southwood College and a member of the baseball team. After serving in the United States Air Force, he relocated to Colorado and lived the last 35 years in Golden, CO.
Throughout his various careers, and even in retirement, his passion for sports and his involvement in softball remained constant. He was proud that through all his years in Colorado, he and a core of close friends played softball for various teams and won several state championships.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Patricia and E. Douglas Cochran, and is survived by his sister, Courtney Cochran Ryon, brother-in-law, Daniel C. Ryon, both of Raleigh, and former wife and dear friend, Linda Sauser of Lakewood, CO. He is also survived by many close and very special friends who kept his spirits high while facing his final weeks away from his home in Golden.
The family would like to express a very special thank you to Patt Williams, Bryan Klutz, and the staff of Heartland Hospice for their compassionate and supportive care during Bob’s illness.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Patrick Swayze Pancreas Cancer Research Fund, Stanford Cancer Center Development Office, 2700 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, CA 94025.
