Robert Owens Beauchamp, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2017. He was born January 25, 1925 in Nashville, TN to Dr. R.O. and Ruby Beauchamp. Robert served his country during World War II from 1943 until being honorably discharged in 1946 as a Technical Corporal. He married Mary Louise Gaines on June 24, 1948. He attended Peabody Demonstration School, George Peabody College for Teachers, and obtained a Masters in Organic Chemistry from Vanderbilt University. Robert worked for various companies as a research chemist and information scientist. He retired in Raleigh, NC in 1990 and started his own information science company which operated until 2008. Robert was also active in the Presbyterian Church including serving as Deacon in Richmond, VA in 1970. Robert believed in a strong work ethic, good education, loyalty to family, and unwavering faith in God and Jesus.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his oldest son, R. Donelson Beauchamp; two sisters, Ruby Carolyn and Wilhelmina; and sister-in-law, Eva. He is survived by his younger son, Dr. David G. Beauchamp (Nancy) of Wilmington, NC; two grandchildren, Gretchen G. Beauchamp and Rieman G. Beauchamp both of Wilmington, NC; two brothers, Dr. John J. Beauchamp (Betty) of Franklin, TN and Dr. Nicholas A. Beauchamp of Gladys, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert is now at peace in Heaven with his wife of 67 years and other family members who passed away before him.
All services will be held in Nashville, TN. A funeral service will be held 3pm November 29th at Mt. Olivet Funeral Home with burial afterwards at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
