Richard Terrell Coley

Richard was born September 25, 1929, in Wake County, N.C., to the late Richard Albert Coley and Ethel Britt Coley. He served with the U.S. Air Force in Japan during the Korean War. A North Carolina State University graduate, Richard worked as an industrial engineer with Westinghouse Corporation for more than 30 years. He was a long-time member of Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Raleigh.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Ketner Coley; daughter, Carolyn Coley Koning, and son-in-law, Paul Koning, of Raleigh; brothers, Richard Albert Coley of Raleigh and Dr. Elwood Brogden Coley and his wife, Ruby, of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Lily and Silas Koning; as well as special nieces, nephews, and other family.

He was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Frances Coley and Grace Coley Robertson and brother James Louis Coley.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 21, 2011, at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2723 Clark Avenue, Raleigh, N.C. 27607. Relatives and friends are welcome immediately following the service for a reception in the church fellowship hall.
