Rebecca Williford Price, 68, passed away peacefully in Raleigh September 8th, at Raleigh Rehab where she had been living for the past several years.
Rebecca was born in Greensboro in 1948, to Beulah Pruitt Williford and Rossie Williford. She was the youngest of the family and had three siblings: Rossie Williford Jr., Jerry Williford, and Shirley Williford Alley. She went on to have two children of her own, Emily Price and Brian Price.
Rebecca had a master’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and wore many hats throughout her varied career, working with a number of nonprofits and across a variety of industries, one of her favorite positions being the Deputy Director of Clemency under Governor Jim Hunt.
Rebecca's life was characterized by her passion for the arts. She loved listening to and performing classical music, both as an accomplished clarinet player and as a soprano in the church choir. She also enjoyed arranging flowers, drawing, and painting. In her later years, she created libraries in several of the places she lived for other residents to experience the joy of reading.
Rebecca cherished her volunteer work at Rex Hospital and being part of the Red Hat Society, and loved being involved in Bible studies. She took great comfort in scripture and strived and strived to live every day in a way that allowed people to see Jesus in her and her life.
Rebecca will be greatly missed by her friends and family, including her very close friend, David Poe.
Her service will be at 1pm Saturday, September 17th at Raleigh Moravian Church where she was an active member for a number of years.
