Rachel was born June 28, 1925 in Salem, VA. She was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Raleigh for the past 6 years and a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Roanoke, VA.
Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, David Paul Hancock.
She is survived by her daughter, Sally Newman (Chris) of Raleigh; and son, David P. Hancock (Kelly) of Richmond; 4 grandchildren, Ian McDonald (Nichele) and their son, Seth; Corey Campbell (Bobby) and their daughter, Stevie; Grant Hancock; and Tima Hancock.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home Chapel, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. The family will receive friends 12:00 – 2:00 pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
