Philip A. Mowery, 69, of Wendell, North Carolina, formerly Gahanna, Ohio, died on Tuesday February 18th 2020, at 6:41 P.M. at Duke Raleigh Medical Center. Born December 30, 1950 in Columbus, Ohio, he was the son of the late Paul Lee Mowery Sr. and the late Eunice Pearl (Allen) Mowery. Phil served honorably in the United States Army, extensively in Vietnam.
Phil worked for ALL Crane Company for many years, in both Columbus, OH and Raleigh, NC. He enjoyed sailing and motorcycle riding. He was an avid shooter, member of the Virginia Shooting Club, and active in the Green Beret Foundation. He especially loved supporting and mentoring young Afghanistan and Iraq veterans, and was also a great-grand sponsor of Dr. Bob.
He is survived by: daughters, Cristi (Gene) Smith, Elida OH, Heather Richard, Johnstown OH; grandchildren, Taylor (Garrett) Acaley, Marysville OH, Kayla (Nate) Carman, Harker Heights TX, Tyler Smith, Toledo OH, Bailee Mowery, Slidell LA, Matthew Mears, Johnstown OH, Andrew Richard, Johnstown OH; great granddaughters Merritt Acaley and Sailor Acaley. Siblings: Carol (John) Mills, Ohio, Dorothy (Don) Lee, Ohio, Dave Mowery, Pennsylvania, Paul (Luana) Mowery Jr., Ohio. He is preceded in death by grandson, Jaden Smith. He loved his many nephews and nieces and was especially close to his neighbors and community members.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 P.M. on Saturday, February 22nd at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on E. Millbrook Rd.
