

Peggy D. Singleton, 82, of Raleigh and Sunset Beach, NC, died Monday, November 30, 2009, at Myrtle Beach Manor in Myrtle Beach, SC, where she was convalescing after a short hospital stay. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gary F. Singleton of Raleigh and Sunset Beach and four children: Debra H. Briggs of Sunset Beach and husband, Clint, Myra H. Snider and husband, Ernie of High Point, NC, David D. Singleton, wife Susie and grandson Seth of Greenville, NC, and Laura S. Jenkins and grandchildren Toby and Bailey of Raleigh. She was the daughter of J.P. and Effie Daughtridge of Rocky Mount, NC.Peggy had a long and productive life; working as Office Manager for the Victor Adding Machine Company and thereafter serving as Executive Secretary for the State Capitol Foundation, securing funds for the restoration of the Capitol to its original 1840 condition. Peggy was a valued member of the Raleigh Garden Club, serving as its Secretary/Treasurer for many years. Peggy had a vivacious spirit and never met anyone whom she did not befriend. In her retirement years at Sunset Beach, she produced paintings and other arts and crafts for friends and family. She had an active social life and especially enjoyed her time with family.Visitation will be at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on St Mary's Street from 6:00 to 7:30 PM on Thursday, December, 3, 2009.
