Mrs. Peggy W. Holland

July 23, 2013, our beloved wife, mother, sister and servant, was welcomed into the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour. Born to Carrie and Robert Vance Whitaker, in Salisbury, NC, on March 11, 1935, Peggy married George H. Holland, Jr. She was a devoted wife of 59 years, and loving mother to Mark Holland (Jennelle) and Clay Holland (Pam).

Driven by her faith, Peggy faithfully served Jesus Christ as a minister of music at Longview, Yates, Calvary, Woodhaven, and Tabernacle Baptist Churches. Working and volunteering at the Raleigh Baptist Association for many years, she was the director of the Childrens Music Camp where she was able to share her love of music, her beautiful voice and her faith with young people of all backgrounds, leading many to Christ. Her volunteering nature involved her in numerous organizations, of which there are too many to list, but worthy of mention. She had numerous piano and voice students over the years, and was an avid NCSU football fan often attending the games with her family.

She will be missed by her sons and eight grandchildren, Ashleigh, Ethan (Michelle), Michaela, Angela, Annaleen, Daniel, Josiah, and Timanda; sister Cynthia Miller (Gene), and brother Dean Whitaker both of Landis, NC, her nieces and nephews, and of course, her loving husband and best friend, George.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Tabernacle Baptist Church and the Raleigh Baptist Association’s Childrens Music Camp.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 8304 Leesville Rd., Raleigh, NC 27613.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 26, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church. Viewing will be held prior to the service from 10:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Private committal services will be held in the afternoon at Montlawn Memorial Park.
