I hired Paul for an engineering job way back in the early 1980s when I was IR Manager at Sprague Electric in Barre, VT. The salary was typical Sprague- abysmal , but Paul was between jobs and grateful that I took a chance on him. We became good friends (Sharing the same month and day of our birth helped!) and he was very much a mentor to me as I was new to Industrial Relations work in a manufacturing facility.  So many good memories but so sorry that we drifted apart in recent years.  I will always cherish those memories and good times together.

Mary Bryan, I was so surprised to read of Paul's death and I send my condolences to you and your family.  He was a sweet man and so gentle.  Memories can make us smile at strange times and, I believe, that you will recall fun and silly events soon.  Bless all of you.

Dear Mary Bryan and Family,

I am so very sorry for your loss.  Paul was a very smart, witty, throughly nice guy.  I have wonderful memories of him throughout our years at school together. At this point I  can't  remember  specific events,  just remembering him as a constant presence  throughout the years at Murphey (where we usually had the same teachers,  including Fanny Knight Thomas in the third grade), Morson, and Broughton. I'm pretty sure my memory of him  at Mrs. Leggett's private school is a true one. It was a kindergarten, first grade school for children who missed being old enough to get in the public school for first grade.  He and Betty Lou Ramseur and I, plus others I can't name now entered Murphey as second graders.

I do remember clearly in the third grade at Murphey, he was one of the group of boys who always beat me to the answers when  we did an outloud contest on math skills in class.

Since this has to do with memories for the family, I want to tell you all that David Ball, Sr, was a boyhood friend of my father and for a time during my grammar school years the Balls lived around the corner  on Wilmington Street. David Ball, Jr., always called Graham, was in the neighborhood group of boys who let me join them to play Roll a Bat in the Andrew's big yard on the corner of East North and Wilmington Streets.

Mary Bryan,  not too many of us from the old neighborhood still living. Paul and I had some good times growing up just a few blocks from each other. He will certainly be missed, for sure. My sincere sympathies to the families.

I was one year old when Paul was born into the Harding Street family.  With 20 kids in our neighborhood and three girls living between Paul and I, we became close buddies.  Our back yards all ran together so we spent a lot of fun times playing and building our friendship. I remember playing in Paul’s back yard and going up those tall steps to his kitchen for drinks.   His mom would be listening to her favorite radio shows like “just plain Bill”  in the 1940’s. 
Paul visited Sally and me while I was in the Air Force in Ohio in 1967. He was driving that bright yellow Corvette and looked quite the “man” .   Paul was always a gentleman and a friend.    Ed Moore
