Paul Nicholas DelMastro was born in White Plains, NY, the son of William R. DelMastro and Elsie Marie Barresi on September 29, 1946. Paul graduated from White Plains High School and later enrolled in college at North Carolina State University earning a BS in Applied Mathematics in 1969. After graduation he served in the US Army from July 1970 to January 1972.
Paul worked for The City of Raleigh and retired in the late 1990’s.
Earlier in Paul’s life, he was an avid softball player, an impressive shortstop, and longtime coach in women’s softball leagues. Paul was a savvy investor, an art enthusiast and a fabulous dancer. He enjoyed gardening and sampling new restaurants.
Paul was a charitable person. Among his favorite charities is the DelMastro Scholarship Fund, an endowment previously established to honor a member of the DelMastro family who made significant contributions to Wilson Community College. Other charities include Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, The North Carolina State University Foundation, Inc., Meals on Wheels of Wake County, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Warmth for Wake, InterAct and The American Red Cross, (Fed. Employer Identification # 13-1788491). In lieu of flowers, gifts to one of these charities would be generous and appreciated.
Paul was a very loyal friend and will be missed by many.
