Paul Parker Creech, 63, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, July 5, 2015, after a courageous and inspirational battle against cancer. Paul was the son and middle child of Julius “Son” Creech of Tarboro, NC and the late Betty Gray Parker Creech.
The founder of Creech Law Firm, Paul had over 35 years' experience in negotiating and closing the purchase and sale of businesses as well as helping clients develop plans for estate and family wealth transfer. He represented clients in tax matters, handling guardianships, drafting special needs trusts and estate administration. Paul earned his Masters of Law degree (LL.M.) in estate planning from the University of Miami in 1978. He was graduated from the University of South Carolina in 1977, where he earned his Juris Doctorate, and from the University of North Carolina in 1974, having received his B.A. degree in political science and journalism. He was licensed to practice in North Carolina and Georgia and was a member of the North Carolina Bar Association and its sections on Tax Law, Business Law, Real Property Law and Estate Planning and Fiduciary Law. Paul achieved an AV rating among his peers, classifying him as "preeminent" in his fields of law.
Paul was committed to his vocation as an attorney. His professionalism, attention to detail and devotion to his clients’ best interest were evident in his law practice.
Paul was dedicated to serving others and living his Christian faith in his daily walk. He was an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church where he taught Sunday school for many years, served on various committees, led Bible studies and was a long-time member of the Diaconate and Session. Paul enjoyed participating in and leading Men’s Bible Studies and was a member of Bible Study Fellowship and Finding Purpose – A Ministry for Men for many years. It brought Paul great joy to study alongside his brothers in Christ, especially those who were studying the Gospel for the first time, where he shared his testimony and the details of his spiritual journey to encourage and nurture those in his group.
Anyone who knew Paul certainly knew of his love for the North Carolina coast. He enjoyed time with his family and friends boating, fishing, exploring, swimming, and taking trips to Cape Lookout, Shark Island or to Morris’ Grill for a hamburger and a cold beer. Paul especially loved spending time in Oriental, NC where his idea of “relaxing” often looked vastly different than those who were with him. Starting very early on Saturday mornings while others were
trying to sleep, he could be found in the garage tinkering with loud tools, wood working or power washing anything, whether it needed it or not.
Paul is survived by his loving wife and devoted caregiver, Connie Kittinger Creech of Raleigh; sons, Luther “Luke” Howard Creech of Raleigh and Paul Parker Creech, Jr. and wife, Kelly Parkison Creech of Charlotte; step daughter, Brooke Whiteside Pollard and husband Herbert Alvin “Hap” Pollard, Jr.; grandson, Grayson Beckett Pollard of Brooklyn, NY and stepson, Samuel Elliott Whiteside, Fayetteville, Arkansas. He leaves his brothers David Ward Creech of Oriental, Thomas Jerome Creech and wife, Lindy Vaughn Creech of Tarboro and Robert Gray Creech and wife, Betsy Reade Allen Creech of Raleigh; and his sister, Blair Creech Carlton and husband, Alfred P. Carlton, Jr. of Raleigh. Also surviving are 9 nieces and nephews who
adored their “Uncle Paul”, Margaret Ann Pryor, Grace Jerome Creech, Ellis Wright Hooks, Jr., Julia Gray Hooks, Anna Vaughn Creech, Emily Richardson Creech, Rachael Gordon Creech, Robert Gray “Sonny” Creech, Jr. and Betsy Reade Creech.
Paul is predeceased and now in heaven with his mother, Betty Gray Parker Creech, former wife and high school sweet heart, Ruth Howard Creech and nephew, Thomas Jerome Creech, Jr.
