Pat was born April 17, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA. She moved to Raleigh, NC in 1958 with her two daughters and husband, Carl S. Swarr, Jr., and the next year her son was born. Pat was a member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church for 54 years and retired from Memorex-Telex as an Administrative Assistant. Pat was a 2000 hour volunteer with Rex Hospital. She was also an advocate of exercise, nutrition and vitamins, and enjoyed 85 years of excellent health prior to her diagnosis of pancreatic cancer. Pat’s greatest joy in life, however, was her family! Her children thank the doctors, nurses, and caregivers of Rex Healthcare Recovery/ICU and 7th Floor West, and of the Hospice of Wake County William M. Dunlap Center for Caring for their loving and skillful care during her final weeks.
Pat was preceded in death by her ex-husband of 23 years and her parents.
Pat was loved and will be missed by her children: Carol and husband Phil Beaumont of Smithfield, NC, Adrienne and husband Al Johnston of Fort Worth, TX, and Bart and wife Jane Swarr of Raleigh, and grandsons: Alex Johnston of Fort Worth, TX, Bart Swarr, Jr. of Charleston, SC and Jake Swarr of Raleigh, NC.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm, Saturday April 14 at The Light of Christ Outreach Center, 2735 Buffalo Road, Smithfield, NC. Since this is a service celebrating Pat’s life, those attending should wear attire reflecting Pat’s love of springtime colors.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Pat’s memory to: Rex Healthcare Foundation (please designate ”for Volunteer Services”) 2500 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 325, Raleigh, NC 27607 (http://www.rexhealth.com/donate-now).
