Patricia Songer Shaver

She was born in Bledsoe County, Tennessee to the late Eliga and Willie Mae Graham Songer.

Patricia was a 1974 graduate from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga, while living in Atlanta, she met Rev. Robert Allen Shaver at the church where he was on staff. They were married June 9, 1973, as a result of the marriage they served at several churches in Georgia and Tennessee before moving to Raleigh, NC for Bob to serve as Minster of Music at Trinity Baptist Church where he for 18 years.

Patty started her interior design business shortly after moving to Raleigh and worked for a local furniture store for 17 years. She retired to care for Bob when he became disabled.

She had a love for making things beautiful especially flowers.

In addition to her parents, Eliga Songer (father) and Willie Mae Graham Songer, (mother) Patty was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Robert Allen Shaver, Wallace Songer, (brother), George Songer (brother).

She is survived by Willene Johnson (sister) of Dunlap, Tn, Lawrence Songer (brother) of Decatur, GA, Louise Islam (sister) of Douglasville, GA and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service was held on March 23 in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home, burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Patricia’s name to Trinity Baptist Church Music Ministry.
