Patricia Smith Powell went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2017. She was born on October 28, 1932 in Newport, Rhode Island to the late Clyde and Emily Smith, of Hickory, North Carolina. Pat is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Jack Stallings Powell; a daughter, Jacqueline Sue Powell; a daughter-in-law, Lynette Jennings Powell; and by a brother, Clyde Smith, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terry Powell and wife, Kelly, Donna Frye, Randy Powell and wife, Carrie, and Leslie Davis; her grandchildren, Robby and Rachel Braswell, Nora and Brandon Mills, Shane and Jaclyn Powell, Jessica Powell, Jamie Davis, Jacob Frye, and Claire and Craig Ikerd; eleven great-grandchildren; and by a sister, Deborah Hefner and husband, Tommy.
Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She selflessly served and cared for her family during her lifetime.
A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Mitchell Funeral Home is honored to serve the Powell Family.
