Pam 

I first new her as a teacher at Friendship Baptist School. She was an excellent teacher, empathetic and compassionate to all. Pam cared for my children after school in the 1980's with tender care, helping them with homework.  Most important she was a Christian Mother, serving her family, church and the community.

It is with great sadness that we extend our heartfelt sympathy to you.  We have so many fond memories when you were attending Bethany Hills - from Pam singing in the choir (often next to Bev) and Bev being so blessed by Pam's beautiful voice, to Pam's wonderful solo's that would bring chills to those who heard, to the many cook-outs or Christmas dinners held at your house, to riding with you on our first trip ever to The Wilds, and always enjoying sweet fellowship and laughter together.  Pam will truly be missed by all who knew her, but we know that she is rejoicing and singing in Heaven with her Lord and Savior.  

May you find comfort and strength in the arms of God.  You are in our prayers.

It is with great sorrow and tears that I send this message of peace to the Layton and Jones families, and to all of Pam's friends, students and anyone who knew what a blessing she truly was to everyone that had the opportunity to experience a moment or a lifetime with her.
Pam and I went to Tecumseh Elementary and Xenia High School together.  We were in the First Methodist Church and Xenia High School choirs together.  We went to Tar Hollow church camp together.  We went through Brownines and Girl Scouts together.  Fortunately, we reconnected a few years ago and it was just like there were no years in between.
Pam never lost her sense of humor, nor her smile, nor her sweet composure.  We kept in touch by email and would send prayers back and forth to eachother.  I really thought she would beat the enemy, but God had another plan.  We can't understand that right now, but we will when we meet again in Heaven to share those memories again and to make new ones.

I remember her as a joyful Christian:
the kind of Christian who walks away with songs of  praises in her lips as to tell 
you the sermon is over but the praises continue. The lips thus are an open-door to
a heart "singing with grace to the Lord" 
 
I remember her as a gracious Christian: 
the kind of Christian who sings hymns that touch the heart  as to instill in you the pure words of God.  Her voice thus conveys the
 "teaching and admonishing in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs" those of us in the congregation.

I'll remember a sister in Christ 
the kind of believer in whom "the word of Christ dwell richly in all wisdom"
 
And now that she steps into glory, as a golden expression of  Colossians 3:16 
     " Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your  hearts to the Lord." 
 
How marvelous is our God to let us see His words through the life of His child!  May the Lord richly bless her loved ones!

I'm not sure if this is the Ricky Layton that my parents and I met years ago at the Shoe Show in Holly Park but if it is I want to send my deepest condolences to you and your family.  I personally know the pain you are experiencing because my husband and I lost our 21 year old son in May of this year. With God's help and strength is the only way we can make it through such a loss as yours and ours. I pray that God will truly bless you in the days ahead.

Pam was a thoroughly wonderful human being.  It has been almost four decades since our high school days, but I still remember her constant kindness, her joyful heart, and the delight of being, even for a short time very long ago, her friend. I was privileged to be a part of Pam's life during her Xenia/Wilmington days.... and she remained as family ever since.  Although we saw each other infrequently, we could always pick up as if no time had passed.  "Pammie Faye's" distinctive laugh, her vivacious spirit, and her joy of life made every place she was so much better!  The time she spent with Wayne and me rehearsing and performing are times I will always cherish; we had more fun than should be allowed!  All of us here in Wilmington who shared music and the stage with her have lost one of the bright lights in our lives.
  My wife Becky, my mother Lois (who held Pam as a second daughter), and I send our most sincere sympathies to the Jones and Layton families.  You shared with us a most extraordinary person.  Love to you all........

I met Pam in September 2011 and realized very quickly just what a wonderful, special and gifted person she was. She has been a friend, a source of support and encouragement to me during a very difficult time. She was a wonderful witness for her Lord, Jesus Christ and readily shared her faith. My prayers to all of Pam's family. I remember Pam from Girl Scout camp when I was in junior high school and Pam was in high school. Her friend at the time was Linda Fyffe (I think) and they both used to sing all of the popular songs played on the radio (very well too). Pam was a pretty girl way back then and this picture shows she aged very well and grew into a very pretty woman. I am sorry to hear this as she was still young and I am also sorry for your loss.

Our hearts and prayers to go out to the Layton family. Although we only knew Mrs. Layton for a short time she touched us the moment we met her and continued to do so through the school year at FCS. Jack adored and trusted her as she always knew exactly what to say to him when he became stressed. She was an inspiration as a woman, educator, and Christian. We will never forget her.

As I would look up through the glass where I sit at work, there often would be the prettiest smile....Pam. Though I only knew her for a short time, her memory I will keep forever. Honestly, one of the most sweetest ladies I have ever known. My heart goes out to the family.

Our prayers go out to the family of Pam Layton.  Our daughter spent 14 years at WCA and Pam helped us out at the time of my mother's illness and death by driving Maggie to school. I couldn't leave my mother alone and we lived up in N. Raleigh. I remember her caring so much for my daughter and I'm grateful to have had the pleasure of knowing her. To the family,  I pray that trusting in Him at this most-sorrowful time in your lives will get you through.

     I am sending my condolences to Rick and Caleb and the Jones and Layton families. I am a former Wilmington College classmate of Pam's. I was able to reconnect with Pam on the phone recently for the first time in many years.  We were able to pick up right where we left off as if no time had passed. Needless to say we had a great time catching up with each other.  She talked about her family, job and  how at the time she was feeling better.  She thought she would beat this.  I told her I would keep her and her family  in my prayers.  We said we would talk again soon.
      Pammy Faye as we called her in college was a very special lady who knew how to enjoy life and make people laugh.  I will miss her a lot and remember her with love and joy.

Ricky, may the God of all grace and comfort be your strength in the days ahead. As I think of the reunion we enjoyed with Pam, you and the WCA family it reminds me of the reunion that awaits us in glory. Kathy and I pray that our Lord will pour out his blessings on you in abundance.

We were sad to hear about the homegoing of Pam. This has to be such a difficult time for your family but may you be comforted to know she is with the Lord she loved and served. She had a wonderful smile every time we saw her and her love for the Lord  touched so many people. Your family will be in our prayers.

Mrs. Layton will surely be missed by our daughter, Hayden, whom Mrs. Layton took under her wings to help her with her math skills with a desk set up for Hayden right there in her office! What a precious loving and caring lady.
