Nathan was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, “Jackie” Elizabeth Howell.
He is survived by two daughters, Judy Rimmer (G. Cole Rimmer) of Wake Forest, and Joyce Fowler of Annapolis, MD.
Nathan had four grandchildren – N. Dale Rimmer (Kristin) of Raleigh, Anna R. Rushing (Bryan) of Wake Forest, Michael W. Fowler (Jennifer) of Washington, D.C., and Christina L. Fowler of Annapolis, MD. He had six great-grandchildren, Wyatt C. Rushing, Emma M. Rushing, Carmen E. Fowler, Bailey A. Fowler, Benjamin D. Hindman, and Adeline R. Hindman.
Nathan is also survived by two brothers, Milford Howell of Wilson, NC, and Harold Howell of Suffolk, VA, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their families. He was preceded in death by five sisters from North Carolina and Florida.
Nathan retired after 31 years from the U.S. Postal Services as well as an additional 7 years from the State of North Carolina.
He was an early member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where he served as Deacon, Elder, and long-time Sunday School teacher.
The family would like to express our deepest gratitude of the nurses, aides, and staff of Station 3 at the Oaks at Mayview and the Hospice of Wake County for their tireless devotion to our dad.
Flowers will be graciously accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of Wake County or the American Heart Association.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 10, at 10:00 at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue. The service will follow immediately after at 11:00 a.m.
