She was the daughter of Jay Carl and Marian Rankin of Maryland. She attended Baltimore Public Schools. She is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a major in English. Upon graduation she was employed by The National Broadcasting Company in Washington, D.C. where she met and married the love of her life, Charlie Gaddy.
The couple moved to Raleigh in 1960. Nancy owned and directed the Raleigh Junior Cotillion where she taught social graces and ballroom dances to over 3000 Raleigh teenagers.
Nancy was highly intelligent with a wonderful sense of humor. Her husband enjoyed her lilting voice. Her sense of fun was so special to her family and friends.
Nancy is pre-deceased by her parents and her sister Gail.

A funeral service for Nancy will be held Monday, December 20, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Edenton Street United Methodist Church, 228 W Edenton St, Raleigh, NC 27603. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private graveside service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park.
