Nancy Anne Fleming, 86, of Durham, passed away on December 30, 2014. Nancy was a native of Southampton, New York and also lived in Sun City Center, Florida before moving to Durham, North Carolina five years ago. Her faith was very important to her, and she was a member of Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Catholic Church in Southampton, New York.
Nancy was an advocate for self help for 15 years through Recovery International, receiving two awards for leadership during that time. She also worked for 15 years as a nurse at the Southampton Nursing Home. Her family meant everything to her. Throughout the years, Nancy was a loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter and sister.
Nancy is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Edward Fleming; daughters, Barbara Gay Gibson (Malcolm), Deborah Anne Halsey (Raymond) and Lauren Elizabeth Hall (James); eight grandchildren, Michele Gibson, Kimberly Gibson-Forrest (Howard), Jennifer, Ryan and Jason Halsey, and Andrew, Brandon and Jordan Hall; seven great grandchildren, Jaylyn, Jessie, Jovie, Jax, Jaeger, and Jamison Forrest and Dylan Gibson; and two brothers, James Holden and John Holden. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Lester Holden and her sister, Betty Holden Nugent.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 2, 2015 from 11:00-12:00pm at the Raleigh Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, 7501 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh, NC. The service will begin at 12:00pm, with the burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nancy’s memory to Recovery International, 105 Adams Street, Suite 2940, Chicago, IL 60603.
