Rip Naba

Naba,
I can't believe you are gone. 
Your 100-watt smile keeps flashing before my eyes and I cannot believe that I will never see you again. Your zest for pretty much anything you undertook was infectious and you left anyone that came in contact with you feeling loved and celebrated. 
I have so many fond memories from our friendship that began in junior college in Mumbai to our most recent meeting when you visited last year. I wished I'd hugged you a little tighter and a little longer because it breaks my heart knowing that I will never be in the warmth of your company again. Your time with us here was short but I pray for your soul to make its ultimate journey back home. Love you and will miss you forever.

I don't think anyone can wrap their head around having lost you. Just looking back at the good times we spent together in grad school is leaving me at a loss of words. You were such a firecracker of a person, always opinionated, honest and lively! While most of us were trying to figure ourselves and our likes and dislikes, you seemed to know yourself so well - you had so many interests and hobbies and we learnt so much from you - whether it was baking, cooking elaborate recipes or to be honest just enjoying what you made for all of us! I echo Shilpa's sentiment, seeing you drive the uHaul and back into our driveway with all our stuff in it was such a hero moment for all of us who would be struggling to park a Honda civic properly at that time! You were confident, self assured, equally mad and fun and truly a girl's girl! I hope you're in a happier place with Boomer around you :)

Even though I had the opportunity to meet you only once in 2021 at Monita di's place, you left an incredible impression on me. The food you cooked and the top notch arrangements that you made all single-handedly was laudable. I still remember the tips and tricks you shared about cooking with me and I occasionally use them. Your radiant smile could lift and cheer up anyone around you.  I wish I could spend more time with you but I feel extremely lucky that our paths crossed and I shall cherish those memories forever. Naba... I still can’t believe I am writing this. Every day I wake up thinking this is all a very bad dream and someone is going to jolt me out of it. You were one of the most wonderful people I have known in my life. I keep hearing your infectious laugh in my head everyday because I never want to forget it. With your bright colored clothes and your outgoing personality, you stood out in every gathering you were part of. With your bright smile on ‘always on’ mode, you were easily the most beautiful person in any room. Your love for your friends and family was unbounded. I remember when you put in several hours of effort into baking and cooking the most delicious food to welcome my then boyfriend (now husband) to our home in Raleigh for the first time. I didn’t even do that! Although you never met my son that you so deeply loved, I will forever have the blanket you knit for him, and every time I miss you, I will wrap myself in that tightly to feel better. I don’t remember a single time when I spoke to you where you weren’t planning a birthday party or a baby shower for one of your family or friends’ kids. You never ran out of love to shower on your friends and family with. 

I was always in awe of what an amazingly independent and bright young woman you were. There wasn’t a thing you didn’t do well. Back when I was still learning to drive and parking a car in between two spots, I remember my jaw dropping when I saw you back in a giant U-haul moving truck into our drive way so effortlessly! I got asked for my ‘hairstylist’s’ contact by so many, even random people, after that amazing haircut you gave me in college. From being my stand-in make up artist to a last minute emcee, you saved the day at my wedding! To my gorgeous friend who was everything from a CR7 fan-girl to a Harry Potter fanatic to a dog and baby lover to an emerald green obsessor and so much more -  I will miss you dearly. I’m glad your best friend Boomer is with you in your onward journey. 

I still remember the time when you got furious over me criticizing Brett Lee, something which you overheard while I was talking to my friends outside the ice cream shop opposite Cambridge.  Which then turned into a whole argument thankfully ending with a great and healthy discussion about Harry Potter. 

Our conversations were few and time flew fast. You will always be remembered Nabaruna.

Our deepest sympathies go out to Naba’s family. Naba was a beautiful woman and the sweetest neigbor. She would often bring us baked goods or leave candy in her mailbox for our kids on Halloween. I have known Bony since she was a little girl. The news comes as a shock. So abrupt and extremely difficult to process. It's hard to comprehend that she's no longer with us. My heart goes to her parents, sister, and loved ones and those lives she touched with her infectious smile. 

She was a beautiful, brilliant soul inside and out, and some of my fondest memories of her were connecting over cricket and her Brett Lee fandom. She grew up to be a wonderful person - warm, kind and intelligent - always wearing her honest smile. She was loved by all, and she inspired many. A speedy justice is the least she deserves.

You were my first friend in Raleigh and the last person I hugged before I moved away. Your beautiful heart and soul let me easily create a home in a new city. We studied, laughed, cried, cooked, and experienced so much together. I love you

She was one of the few kindest and accomodating persons I know in my life. I met her when I was a kid with an extremely introverted nature.
I used to struggle hard connecting with people in social gatherings, but never felt any issue while talking to her....she always had a smiling face with calm and composed demeanor.
People like her deserves greatness. Cannot imagine what happened to her. It is still unbelievable for me. Rest in peace friend.

I met Naba while working on a project at SAS together. I immediately thought she would go very far in life. She was so loving, poised, intelligent, and willing to help. She took time out of her day to help me with coding questions and she was truly an expert in her field. Intelligent, very kind, and a very fun & dependable colleague. She was always calm and collected. I remember hearing her dog in the background of our calls. 

She was such a wonderful person and I'm so sorry that the world has lost her. Huge condolences to her family. She was a wonderful, kind, and generous person.
