Michelle Lynn Cook, age 42, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 after a courageous yet graceful battle with Friedreich’s Ataxia, a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy. Born on February 6, 1980 in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the daughter of Joan Foradori Trump and Jeffrey Lynn Cook.
Michelle graduated from Schlarman High School in Danville, IL in 1998. She then graduated from Southern Illinois University with a BS in University Studies. She often commented that her years at SIU were some of the best years of her life.
Michelle spent her time soaking up rays of sunshine, watching her favorite TV show “Friends” and facetiming with loved ones. Michelle was passionate about the things she loved, including sunflowers, cats, Chuck Taylor shoes, and of course, food! But her greatest love was her friends and family.
Michelle is survived by her mother: Joan Trump and husband Barry, of Columbus, IN; father: Jeff Cook and wife Amy Parker, of Raleigh; sisters: Keegan Cook; Tiffany Jackson and husband Bristol; her nieces: Madelyn and Lacey Jackson; her grandparents: Kirby and Shirley Holt; and aunts and uncles: Denise Willoughby and husband Larry, John Foradori and wife Regina, & Roseanne Foradori.
Liturgy of the Word was held Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 11 am in the St. Mary of the Angels Chapel at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church (11401 Leesville Road, Raleigh). Visitation was that afternoon from 1-2 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh), with a Celebration of Life beginning at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed at Raleigh Memorial Park. For those unable to attend, a hyperlink to a video of all services can be found below under the heading DONATIONS.
All were invited afterwards to a reception back at Mitchell Funeral Home for a few of Michelle's favorites - strawberry cupcakes, subs and pizza.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions would be greatly appreciated to the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance (FARA). www.curefa.org
