Michael Joseph Merrick

Michael Joseph Merrick, age 40, passed away Tuesday, February 4, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, and son. He worked for Lowes Home Improvement for over 20 years with his last position in Wake Forest, North Carolina.

Michael was born February 3, 1985 to Kevin and Donna (Corcoran) Merrick in Norwich, Connecticut. He met his wife, Rebecca (Becky Davis) while she was in college in Greensboro. They were married July 12, 2008 in Raleigh, North Carolina. They welcomed three children, Amelia, Jacob, and Evvie during their time together.

Michael was an avid rider of four wheelers and dirt bikes. He was extremely mechanically inclined; he could fix anything and loved working on his and the children’s four wheelers and bikes. Two years ago, he and his family moved to a farm in Louisburg. He worked hard to customize the house and property to fit the needs of the family. He added a pool, deck, and fencing. He made walking and riding trails throughout the property. The house and farm clearly show his love of his family and his passion for riding.

Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents: Bruce and Janice (Schlehr) Merrick and Byron and Claire (St. Jean) Corcoran. He is survived by his wife Becky, parents Kevin and Donna Merrick, and children Amelia, Jacob, and Evelynn, father-in-law and mother-in-law Steven and Ann Davis, brother-in-law Mark Davis (Megan) and a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A memorial service/reception was held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2025 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh, NC.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Michael’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
