Michael Davis

Michael Otto Davis, 69, passed away on October 27, 2016 at Rex Hospital. He was born on June 23, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Paul William Davis and Thelma Prosser Davis. He was preceded in death by his brother, Paul William Davis, Jr. and his granddaughter, Gracie Conley.

Mike graduated from Maplewood High School in Missouri in 1965. In July 1968, he started with IBM; after 37 years, he retired in 2005. Mike enjoyed the outdoors playing golf, the beautiful NC mountains and beaches. But most of all, he enjoyed being “Gramps” to his grandchildren.

Mike liked to work with his hands, especially helping in the aftermath of hurricane Floyd in 1999. For several months, Mike would spend his weekends teamed up with the Churches of Christ Disaster Relief team to help victims in eastern North Carolina.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 41 years, Sandra Kay Barton Davis; daughter and son-in-law Lauren and David Conley; grandchildren Evan and Eva Conley; sister Barbara Davis Cavenah of Ft. Worth, Texas and many extended family members.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11 am at Brooks Avenue Church of Christ – 700 Brooks Avenue – Raleigh, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made payable to Brooks Avenue Church of Christ with a memo for churches of Christ Disaster Relief.
