Melanie Dawn Morrison, 52, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away on June 18, 2017 while in Mexico. At the time of her death Melanie was a food technologist with the Agricultural Marketing Service of the USDA in Washington, D.C. She earned a B.S. in Food Science at North Carolina State University and also had an MBA degree in marketing. Melanie worked for nearly 30 years both in private industry and in government using her skills as a food scientist.
Survivors include daughter Chelsea Senter, son Matthew Senter, mother Linda P. Hyman, step-father David N. Hyman, sister Chloe Morrison, nephew Victor Henderson and former husband Guy Senter. She was predeceased by grandparents Hazel & Delos Pulliam and Terry and Irving Hyman, cousin Jay Pulliam and friend Joe Peek.
Melanie loved her work and her family. She loved poetry, animals and playing the dulcimer was an avid movie fan and LGBT advocate. She will be sorely missed by the many whose lives she touched.
Friends will be received at 1pm on June 30 followed by a service 2pm at Brown-Wynne Funeral home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Ridgeway, Virginia on July 1 at 1pm
