Maybelle Edna Carrington

Edna Carrington, 82, of Brookdale, North Raleigh, NC (formerly of Arlington, VA) passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017. Edna was born to Glen and Maybelle Maines on December 15, 1934 and grew up in the Washington D.C./Arlington, VA area with her eight siblings.

In her early career, she worked as a secretary at the Pentagon, then took a break to raise her two sons, Mitchell and Jamie. She then resumed her career as an extended day care supervisor in the Arlington County school system where she molded many students and created lasting memories that stand to this day. She was an avid gardener at her home in Arlington, VA and continued that passion when she moved to the retirement community, Brookdale of North Raleigh, North Carolina. She enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, and playing cards with her siblings.

Edna is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jamie and Jenny Carrington and their children, Peyton and Lucas Carrington of Wake Forest, NC. Edna was blessed to have a large family comprised of many loving brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend to many.

She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Frederick Carrington; her son, John Mitchell Carrington; her sister, Caroline Maines D'Avanzo; and brother, Glen (Bud) Maines.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 2:00pm at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609.
