Mary Davis Modlin

Mary Davis Modlin, 95, passed away on February 19, 2011 at the Stewart Healthcare Center at Springmoor Retirement Community. Born on August 24, 1915 in Hertford County, NC; she was the daughter of the late J. Kelly Modlin and Annie Minton Modlin.

Mary retired after 34 years of employment with the Defense Intelligence Agency of the US Department of Defense. She then became the church secretary at the 1st Baptist Church in Washington, D.C. until relocating to Raleigh in 1989. She was a member of Graystone Baptist Church in Raleigh.

Mary is survived by her sister, Madeline Griffith and sister-in-law, Regis S. Modlin, both of Springmoor; and by her nieces and nephews and their families: Margaret M. Wise, of Greenville, NC, Lisa M. Collins, of FL, Randolph Modlin, of FL, James Russell Modlin, of TN, Sandra M. Smith, of Lexington, NC, Jane M. Santos, of Germany and Teresa M. Cyr, of Raleigh.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Hilton F. Modlin and Morton Stanley Modlin.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Auditorium of Springmoor Retirement Community (1500 Sawmill Road) on Thursday, February 24th, 2011 at 11 AM.
