She was born and grew up in Raleigh. She graduated Broughton High School in 2013, attended Wofford College, and transferred to Appalachian State Univeristy. She was a member of Kappa Delta Soroity, and was an active member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church youth program. Mary Catherine attended Camp Cheerio from age 6, became counselor there once she aged out.
She is survived by her parents, Mike and Paula Johnson; her three brothers, Bradford Johnson, Cameron Johnson and his wife, Sarah, and Parker Johnson; and her sister, Caroline Johnson, all of Raleigh.
A memorial service to celebrate Mary Catherine's life will be held on Friday, January 23rd at 3pm at White Memorial Presbyterian Church, 1704 Oberlin Rd. in Raleigh. The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
