He was born January 17, 1930, in Dillon, SC to the late John Black & Pansie Edwards McIntyre. He graduated from NCSU with a Masters in Horticulture.
He started his career working at NCSU Horticulture Research Dept, then for a commercial grower in Florida and as a grower for Fallons Florist, retiring in 1989 as the NCSU Greenhouse Manager.
He was a long-time member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. He loved to travel, read, fish, golf, and play games with his family and friends.
His memory will be cherished by his loving wife of 59 years, Joyce Brown McIntyre, and his children: Martin & Letitia McIntyre Jr, Dianne & Frank Moore, and Chris & Sherry McIntyre; his grandchildren: Brian & Erika Moore, Amy & Billy Dunkley, Virginia & Jack Gerdeman and Katie McIntyre; and his great-grandchildren Winnie Gerdeman and Tucker Moore.
His family will receive friends on Saturday at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on St Mary’s Street from 6 – 8pm. The funeral will be Sunday at 2pm at Forest Hills Baptist Church followed by burial at Montlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Wake County or Forest Hills Baptist Church.
