Martin was born April 4, 1921 in Sharpsville, Pa. to the late Arthur Cutler and Amy Parker Cutler. He was a WWII Veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving a tour in Washington, D.C. and Hawaii. He was a 1951 graduate of UNC School of Law. He had a distinguished 30-year career as an independent insurance adjuster and eventual owner of R.E. Pratt & Co. Martin was a longstanding member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church and enjoyed serving as Troop 10 Scout Master c. 1960. He most enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
This special dad and granddaddy will be remembered as a generous, compassionate, godly man with an immense love for life. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Ina Berrier Cutler; sister, Amy Grimm; and brother, Richard Summers.
Martin is survived by his daughter, Barbara Cutler Taylor and her husband, Greg of Raleigh; sons Martin A. Cutler, Jr. and his wife, Eva of Raleigh; William R. Cutler and his wife, Wanda of Winston-Salem; Robert I. Cutler and his wife, Lynn of Haw River; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave. Friends may visit with the family immediately following the service.
