Marilyn Olivian Hardison Fasola, 71, of Raleigh, NC passed away on March 12, 2020. Marilyn, daughter of Charles Thelbert and Shirley Gardner Hardison, loving wife of Michael Egan Fasola, passed away early in the morning on Thursday, March 12, 2020. She is survived by her two sons, Joshua Fasola and his wife Carrie of Raleigh, NC, and Samuel Fasola and his wife Jessi of Raleigh, NC. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Sarah Camille Fasola, Lee Valentine Fasola and Drew Hardison Fasola, and her two granddogs, Ariel and Harper. Her brothers, Ken Hardison and Don Hardison, and her sister Kathie Waldrop, survive her as well.
Growing up in Pitt County on a farm, Marilyn always had good stories to share with family and friends. She married Michael in 1980 in Stokes, NC and they lived for a time in Shreveport, LA and then in Macon, GA. They moved to Raleigh in 1982, shortly after the birth of their first son, Joshua. Their second son, Samuel, was born in 1984 in Raleigh.
Marilyn was a devoted wife and loving mother to “her boys” and all of their friends, who were welcomed into her home, and fed, as family. She worked as a bookkeeper for more than 50 years, touching the lives of countless people. Many of her clients called her “Mama Marilyn” because she cared for each one of them like they were her children, including scolding them when she needed to.
She loved to read, work her puzzles, and listen to music all the time. She was never hesitant to greet someone and begin a conversation, always shining the light of her love on the lives of those she encountered. She will be dearly missed, but the love she spread through the world will live on in the hearts of each and every person she touched.
Visitation in Remembrance of Marilyn Olivian Hardison Fasola will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2022 from 10:30 AM -12:30 PM at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on Millbrook Rd in Raleigh.
