Marie L. Batts

Marie Moore (Ree) Batts, of Raleigh, passed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, October 5, 2010. She was born in Wake County on May 6, 1930, to the Late B.V. and Madelin Poole Moore. Ree retired from Iveys/Dillards Department Store in 1990, where she served as the main switchboard operator. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God.

Marie is survived by her husband of nearly 30 years, Charles B. Batts; her son David E. Saunders, and wife Ellen; her daughter Kathy S. Stephenson; grandson Christopher A. Stephenson and wife Lisa; step-daughters, Deborah B. Fedricks and husband Hollis, Lacy B. Welch and husband Curtis; brothers, Bobby H. Moore and wife Jean, Billy V. Moore and wife Helen; sister Rachel M. Berry; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the devoted caregivers of Hospice of Wake County.

Funeral service will be Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Capital City Church of God, 1500 Hedingham Blvd., Raleigh, NC 27604. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow the service at Historic Oakwood Cemetery in Raleigh.
