Marguerite “Rita” H. Walker, 83, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 29, 2016 in her home. Born on January 14, 1933 in Peoria, IL; she was the daughter of the late Leo and Helen Reid McDonough.
Rita was a devoted wife, mother and avid volunteer. She was a member of the Shriner’s Club and the Elks.
She is survived by her 6 children, 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Walker in 2011 after 57 years of marriage.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, May 1, 2016 from 1-3 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home (7209 Glenwood Avenue). Liturgy of the Word will be held at 3 pm at the funeral home, with committal services to follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the Shriners Club or a hospice of your choice.
