Marguerite Brantley Howell

Alice Marguerite Brantley Howell ("Grannie"), 89, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born on July 17, 1927 in Zebulon, NC to the late Robert Earley Brantley and wife, Sally V. Baker Brantley. She was a graduate of Tryon High School and NC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing (class of 1948) after which she had a 50 year career as a Registered Nurse. She loved a good murder mystery and you could always catch her watching football during football season. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and, in her later years, great-grandmother.

Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Milton R. Howell. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughters, Janis H. McConnell of Zebulon, and Judy H. Deighton and husband, Nigel Deighton of Raleigh, son Jeff Howell and wife, Lynne Howell of Raleigh; grandchildren Phillip A. Richardson, Jr. (PJ) of Cary, Robert L. Richardson and wife, Sheraton of Bucyrus, OH, Autumn B. Collier of Wake Forest, Kris Bullock and wife, Megan Bullock of Raleigh, Megan Howell and Joel T. Howell both of Raleigh; 6 great-grandchildren, Alexis, Sierra and Payton Richardson, Brixton Collier, Lawson Bullock and Bernard Joseph Hughes, V (Joey) .

A visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Thursday, April 20, 2017 at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April, 21, 2017 at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Avenue.
