Margaret was the oldest child born to the Reverend Samuel and Artie Lamb. She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers Bill and Sam Lamb; sister Dorothy Jackson; husband Harry Dorsett and daughters, Helen and Jennie Dorsett.
Surviving are her sons, Harry Dorsett, Jr. (Bubba) and Ronald Dorsett of Raleigh; three nieces, Sandra Bridges, Mitzi Ivey, Mona Harper; one nephew, David Lamb; and sister-in-law, Diane Lamb.
Margaret was born in Wake Forest, NC, grew up in Whiteville, lived over 40 years in Raleigh and later in Elizabethtown, before spending her remaining years in Tolarsville (between St. Pauls and Lumberton).
She met and married her husband while attending Meredith College. She was personnel manager at J.C. Penny (Cameron Village) and worked in social services in Wake and Bladen Counties for over 35 years. She was an avid Wake Forest College (later University) fan all her life. She was also an accomplished pianist /organist for more than 80 years. She especially enjoyed playing with her sister Dot, and in church, most recently with Tolarsville Baptist Church, and lastly at the Oaks at Whitaker Glen.
There will be a visitation Friday, January 25 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh.
The funeral service, conducted by Pastor Jeff Broadwell, will be held the following day, Saturday, January 26, at 1:00P.M. at the Tolarsville Baptist Church (Robeson County), 5521 Tolarsville Rd., Saint Pauls, NC 28384. The service will be preceded by visitation at 12:00 P.M. until 1:00 P.M., at the church.
Burial will be private at Raleigh Memorial Park.
