Melvin Taft Kirk, Jr., 78, went home to heaven on Friday, January 28, 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Sue Kirk. They are now reunited. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Taft was an avid runner and owned and operated a neighborhood grocery store, Cutler Street Grocery, before retiring. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two daughters, Melissa Barlow (Dennis) of Selma and Karen Knaus (Steve) of Apex; sister, Nancy Lynn (Bill) of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Dylan Barlow (Dragana) of California, Ryan Barlow of NYC, Grace Seifert (Ben) of Cary, Rebekah Knaus of Apex. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him dearly.
A private family service will be held at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
