Louise will be laid to rest at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida joining Angelo Settanni, her husband of 53 years. Born October 31st, 1922 in Greenwich Village to immigrant parents Anna and Francesco Ercolano, Luisa Helen grew up with her older sister Mary Concetta and younger brother Anthony Salvatore in Flushing, NY. A first-generation college student, Louise graduated from Queens College, earned a master’s degree in mathematics at Columbia University in 1946, and taught in NYC.
Angelo and Louise married on July 3rd, 1949 and moved to Oakland Park, Florida in 1959. When their daughters began school, Louise joined them in the Florida's public school system, as a math teacher. For most of her career, Louise especially loved teaching calculus and trigonometry at Northeast High in Oakland Park. In 1987, Lou and Ang retired to Zephyrhills, Florida, where Louise lived until moving to Raleigh in 2016.
A visitation will be held Friday, June 21, 2019 from 10am to 10:30am at Wells Memorial and Event Center, 1903 West Reynolds Street, Plant City, Florida 33563. The funeral service will follow at 1:30pm at Florida National Cemetery in the pavilion, 6502 SW 102nd Ave, Bushnell, FL 33513.
